Our first lookbook, captured in nature by Rolf Eijtjes.
Featuring Isabelle and Hazel.
With an accompanying conversation, December 2024.

Rolf, could you tell us more about yourself, as a person and a creative?
I like to think that I kind of go for crazy people in my surroundings that match my energy the most. I gravitate towards creatives. I would say that photography is my main source of income, but I do so many other different things. I just launched a sculpture that I've been working on for years and which I'm really proud of. I draw, I paint and I’m currently working on a music album, of which the first music is going to come out next year. So I do a lot!

Amazing, what kind of music is it?
I would say dark. I created the visuals for it as well. And the way that I look at it is me lonely on a very big mountain top. It’s dark and Misty.

Is it only instrumental or are you also singing?
Yes, I’m singing in every song. I'm not a singer, but I’m always very much into techniques and figuring out how to get to certain results. The same for drawing, painting, sculpting and photography. However, I would say that I'm more of a music producer rather than a singer.

We're so excited! What role does music play in shaping your artistic vision?
I feel like the way to make yourself more original as an artist is to push your boundaries, and explore what you can do to enrich your art to a level no computer can compete with. You can combine media sources to support your vision. If it was up to me, I would transform an entire art space into my unit. From the floor up to the ceiling, every experience that you get in this room should be mine. I would say that music is a very good medium to create your world.

We would love to experience this room. How did you develop your passion over time?
First of all, I love storytelling. I think that's one of the most important things with whatever you do. If you want to tell a story, that story needs to make sense, at least to you. The second thing I would say is that I always want to make things more beautiful. Growing up, I was trying to make everything look better or as good as I wanted to be. With photography, you can create your own world and make it look as you want it to be. I would say that this was one of my ultimate goals from when I was younger.

Do you collect art? And do you use it as an inspiration for your work?
Yes, I love to collect beautiful handmade pieces. However, I usually get inspired by frustrations. Most of my art comes out of a problem. I try to make the problem beautiful, and at the same time either share the problem with others, or offer some sort of potential solution.

What are you the most proud of? Could be anything.
Oh, my music album is going to be amazing! I’ve been working on it for over two years. I'm hoping to launch my first three songs before the summer of 2025. I have to do dancing too, which is completely new to me.

We would love to know what memories you have from the day of the photoshoot. And how is working with Rolf on set like?
I really enjoyed being with a good professional team at one of my holy grounds, because the photoshoot location is where I grew up. To me, it is such a pleasure to work in an area that is considered my playground. And the two models were gorgeous! So it’s basically like playing with your Barbies in your back garden. And I do think that I make things fun, because, in essence, things should be fun. I also like to be a little crazy. When I work with other people, I like things to be a little silly. We should have a good time while still maintaining clear goals and make sure that we get what we need.

We did have a great time! As a final thought, we'd love to know: How do you want people to remember you?
I hope that people will say that I was a kind person and that if they think of me they would be like: “that was a good time, that was so much fun”.
